Amarillo Wedding Photographer
If you're getting married in the Texas Panhandle, I'd love to meet you. I'm Clay Benedict, a wedding photographer based just over the state line in Portales, New Mexico. Amarillo is roughly a two-hour drive from me, and I'm now taking bookings for weddings in and around the city. I'm new to photographing weddings in Amarillo, so I won't pretend otherwise. But ranch and outdoor weddings are what I do, and the Panhandle is full of the kind of open country I love to work in.
When I think of this part of Texas, I think of wide horizons, working ranches, and canyon country not far from town. Whether you're planning a ranch or barn venue, a ceremony on family land, or an evening reception where the sky turns orange over the plains, there's a lot to work with. I'll help you plan your timeline around the light, so your portraits happen when the sun is low and warm instead of harsh and overhead.
On the day itself, I keep things relaxed. I don't line everyone up and direct every move. I watch for the moments that tell your story: the deep breath before the doors open, a flower girl who decides she's done, the friends who start a line dance nobody planned. When it's time for portraits, I'll guide you with simple prompts and then step back so the photos feel like the two of you, not a pose.
You can get a feel for my work in my portfolio. It includes outdoor and ranch weddings from New Mexico, like Log River Ranch near Chama and Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu, and from Colorado's mountains. Panhandle weddings will look different, and that's exactly what I'm excited about.
I've been honored with The Knot's Best of Weddings award twice. I'd like to earn the trust of Panhandle couples the same way I have everywhere else, one wedding at a time.
Do you charge extra to travel to Amarillo?
No. Travel is included in your quote.
